ChatGPT Plans and Pricing

ChatGPT costs nothing on Free, $8 a month on Go, $20 on Plus and $100, $200 or $500 on Pro in the US as of Nov 6, 2026, with Business at $20 to $25 per user a month and Enterprise and Edu priced by OpenAI's sales team.

ChatGPT has seven plans as of Nov 6, 2026: Free at $0, Go at $8 a month, Plus at $20 a month, Pro at $100, $200 or $500 a month, Business at $20 per user a month billed annually or $25 billed monthly, and Enterprise and Edu, which are sold through OpenAI's sales team with no public price. Those are US dollar prices. Every personal plan includes the same three parts of ChatGPT (Chat, ChatGPT Work and Codex), and what changes from plan to plan is the model, the context window and how much of each tool you may use before a limit stops you.

Study mode, Skills, Search, Projects, Health, Finances, Plugins and the option to keep your chats out of training are on every plan, Free included (chatgpt.com/pricing). The table lists Projects for all plans while the Plus card names "Projects, scheduled tasks, and custom GPTs" as a Plus feature: Free can use Projects with fewer files per project.

OpenAI's own pages disagree about the model on Free and Go. The pricing table and the Oct 7, 2026 release note say Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna in Chat (release notes); the help articles updated a few days before Nov 6, 2026 say Free and Go use GPT-5.6 Luna, and that their Think button runs on GPT-5.6 Luna too (GPT-6 and other models in ChatGPT). See ChatGPT Models for the full list.

Free

ChatGPT Free gives unlimited everyday text chats "subject to abuse-prevention safeguards", with separate limits on uploads, images, voice, data analysis and other tools (Free Tier FAQ). It includes 500 MB of Library storage, three active scheduled tasks that run at most once a day (the tasks help article allows them, though the pricing table marks Free "No"), and limited Codex and ChatGPT Work in the desktop app. Ads may appear in some countries.

Go

ChatGPT Go costs $8 a month in the US and has been sold in every ChatGPT country since Jan 16, 2026. It adds more messages with tools, more uploads, more images, more voice (3 hours a day of GPT-Live-1.1 Quip in the voice help article) and a 54K token context window. It keeps the Free plan's models and may show ads.

Plus

ChatGPT Plus costs $20 a month, billed monthly. It is the first plan with GPT-6 Sol in Chat at the Medium and High thinking levels, limited GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex, expanded deep research, images with thinking, ChatGPT Sites and Work on web and mobile as well as desktop. It has no ads.

Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500

ChatGPT Pro comes in three tiers: $100, $200 and $500 a month. Each adds the Pro reasoning option (GPT-6 Pro, powered by GPT-6 Astra), Dots, ChatGPT Space, 100 GB of storage and monthly API credits equal to the plan's price (API credits benefit). Pro has no five-hour limit in Work and Codex (learn.chatgpt.com), and only Pro 500 unlocks Ultrafast mode. Pro is billed monthly only. ChatGPT Plus vs Pro compares the two side by side.

Business

ChatGPT Business, called ChatGPT Team until Aug 29, 2025, needs at least two seats. A Standard seat is $25 a user a month monthly or $20 billed annually; a Premium seat, with more Work and Codex and no five-hour limit, is $125 monthly or $100 annually. OpenAI does not train on Business workspace data, and paid seats earn pooled API credits ($20 per Standard seat, $100 per Premium seat, up to $500 a month per workspace).

Enterprise and Edu

ChatGPT Enterprise and ChatGPT Edu have no public price: you fill in a contact form and OpenAI's sales team quotes. They add SCIM, enterprise key management, role-based access, the Compliance API, data retention and residency controls and priority processing (learn.chatgpt.com). Teachers, students and researchers have separate offers, covered in ChatGPT for Education.

Which ChatGPT plan should you choose?

  • Free if you mostly ask questions and write short texts: text chats are unlimited, and you only meet limits with files, images, voice and research.
  • Go if you hit Free's tool limits often but do not need the stronger reasoning models, and ads do not bother you. ChatGPT Go vs Plus goes through the difference.
  • Plus if you want GPT-6 Sol's reasoning, no ads, Work on your phone and enough Codex for side projects. For most people who pay, this is the plan.
  • Pro 100 if you run long Codex or Work sessions every day and keep hitting Plus's five-hour limits, or want GPT-6 Pro in Chat.
  • Pro 200 or Pro 500 only if Pro 100 runs out; Pro 500 is the only way to get Ultrafast.
  • Business for two or more people who want a shared workspace and a promise that OpenAI will not train on their data.

Limits apply on every plan, even the "unlimited" ones. ChatGPT Usage Limits lists every number OpenAI publishes, and ChatGPT Credits explains how to buy more when you hit them.

Regional prices

OpenAI bills ChatGPT in 67 local currencies on chatgpt.com, and its help article says localized prices "may differ from a conversion of the U.S. price". OpenAI publishes no table of local prices: chatgpt.com/pricing fills in the price for your region when it loads. The one local price stated in OpenAI's help text is Go in India at ₹399 a month. Apple's App Store and Google Play charge their own local prices. Payment methods beyond cards include UPI in India (Go and Plus), Pix in Brazil, GoPay in Indonesia, GCash in the Philippines and MoMo in Vietnam (multicurrency billing).

Ads

Free and Go may show ads; Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu do not (Ads in ChatGPT). OpenAI began testing ads in the US on Feb 9, 2026 and had reached 89 countries by Oct 21, 2026. Free users can turn ads off in exchange for fewer messages and no image generation or deep research. Ads in ChatGPT has the details.

How to change or cancel a plan

Change plans in Settings > My Plan or from the pricing page (About ChatGPT Pro tiers). Cancel where you bought: on chatgpt.com through Settings > Billing > Cancel plan, on iPhone through Apple's subscription settings, on Android through Google Play, and at least 24 hours before the next billing date (Canceling your ChatGPT subscription). You keep the paid features until the period ends. How to Cancel ChatGPT Plus walks through every route.

What testers found

In a Jun 8, 2026 video comparing ChatGPT with Claude, Igor Pogany of The AI Advantage began with pricing and limits. He noted that both run from a free plan through $20, $100 and $200 tiers, and judged ChatGPT "way more generous" at $20 and on Free, guessing that Claude would cut a $20 user off at about 30 to 50% of what ChatGPT allows. That is his estimate from use, not a measured figure.

The host of Parker Prompts paid for ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro and Google AI Pro for a month, in an Aug 12, 2026 video made while GPT-5.5 was ChatGPT's newest model. On usage he found ChatGPT the easiest to plan around, since OpenAI then gave a clear count (about 160 messages every three hours on its strongest model), and hitting the limit dropped him to a weaker model rather than locking him out. His verdict called Plus "the steady, no surprises choice".

Frequently asked questions

How much does ChatGPT cost per month? In the US as of Nov 6, 2026, ChatGPT is free, or $8 a month for Go, $20 for Plus, and $100, $200 or $500 for the three Pro tiers. Business costs $20 to $25 per user a month for a Standard seat.

Is there an annual ChatGPT plan? Not for individuals: Go, Plus and Pro are billed monthly only. Business and Enterprise can be billed annually, and Business is cheaper that way.

What is the cheapest paid ChatGPT plan? ChatGPT Go, at $8 a month in the US, with lower local prices in some countries such as ₹399 a month in India. It may show ads.

Do ChatGPT prices differ by country? Yes. OpenAI bills in 67 local currencies and says local prices may differ from a straight conversion of the US price, but it publishes no list; the pricing page shows the price for your region.

Does any ChatGPT plan remove all limits? No. Even Pro's "unlimited" features are subject to abuse guardrails, and GPT-6 Pro in Chat has a weekly allowance on every Pro tier. Enterprise on flexible pricing has no fixed Work and Codex limits but is billed by use.

Which ChatGPT plans have no ads? Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. Free and Go may show ads in the countries where OpenAI runs them.
