ChatGPT Pulse

ChatGPT Pulse gave Pro users a daily set of personalized updates that ChatGPT researched overnight, from Sep 25, 2025. OpenAI announced its sunset on Jun 17, 2026, gave Pro users 14 more days, and moved proactive updates into scheduled tasks.

ChatGPT Pulse is discontinued: on Jun 17, 2026 OpenAI said "Pulse is being sunset as proactive updates move into scheduled tasks", and Pro users kept access for 14 days, until about Jul 1, 2026. Pulse was a preview, launched on Sep 25, 2025 for Pro users on mobile, in which ChatGPT did research on its own once a day and delivered personalized updates based on a user's chats, feedback and connected apps such as a calendar. To get the same kind of daily briefing now, set up a recurring task in Scheduled Tasks.

Quick facts

Status Sunset announced Jun 17, 2026; Pro access for 14 more days
Launched Sep 25, 2025, preview for Pro on iOS and Android
Web and Atlas Oct 29, 2025, Pro

Replaced by Scheduled tasks

What did ChatGPT Pulse do?

Pulse turned ChatGPT from something you ask into something that starts the conversation. Once a day it researched overnight and presented a set of visual updates, drawing on Memory, chat history, the user's feedback and connected apps like the calendar (OpenAI). Users could curate what it covered, and OpenAI pitched it as "meant to work for you, not to keep you scrolling". It needed saved memory and chat history to be on (OpenAI Help Center).

Pulse grew over its short life, per the release notes:

Date Change
Sep 25, 2025 Early preview for Pro users on iOS and Android
Oct 29, 2025 Pulse on the web and in ChatGPT Atlas, for Pro
Nov 24, 2025 Shopping research also offered in Pulse for Pro (OpenAI)
Dec 17, 2025 "Tasks are now in Pulse" (Pro only)
Jun 17, 2026 Sunset announced; 14 days of continued access for Pro

Pulse never left the Pro plan in any source read for this article.

Why did Pulse end?

OpenAI's only stated reason was that proactive updates were moving into scheduled tasks. The same day, Jun 17, 2026, it rebuilt scheduled tasks with a Scheduled page in the sidebar, tasks that monitor for changes and delivery time windows, for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise (OpenAI Help Center). Its advice to Pulse users was to schedule a daily briefing instead. The old Pulse help article now returns a page-not-found message.

How to replace Pulse with a scheduled task

  1. Open a chat and ask for what you want, for example a daily morning summary of your calendar and news on a topic, and say when it should run.
  2. ChatGPT creates the task; review or change it on the Scheduled page in the sidebar.
  3. Pick push or email alerts under Settings > Notifications.

Limits as of Nov 6, 2026: 3 active tasks on Free and Go, 5 on Plus, 10 on Business and Edu, and 15 on Pro and Enterprise; Free users can run a task at most once a day, while eligible paid plans can repeat tasks up to once an hour (OpenAI Help Center). For an always-on assistant closer to Pulse, Pro and Business Premium users also have Dots.
